The Science Behind Qigong and Cancer Care
Qigong is the meditative movement and therapeutic exercise of Eastern medicine, centered on the intentional adjustment of body, breath, and mind to achieve a state of oneness. Within modern integrative healthcare, supportive cancer care has emerged as one of the clinical areas with the strongest evidence base for the use of Qigong, supported by numerous systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
The therapeutic benefits of this practice are particularly meaningful for individuals navigating cancer recovery. Research shows Qigong may improve quality of life while helping manage symptoms such as fatigue, inflammation, and mood disturbances. These health benefits are closely connected to activation of the relaxation response, which supports anti-inflammatory processes and helps regulate the autonomic nervous system.
A driving force behind the scientific validation of these methods was the late Professor Emeritus Dr. Penelope J. Klein (Dr. Penny). A distinguished clinical researcher, physical therapist, and 5th Generation practitioner of the Wu Yi Jie He Family System, Dr. Penny was a true pioneer in therapeutic Qigong applications. Her landmark work includes a 2016 systematic review specifically focused on Qigong in cancer care, providing a rigorous construct analysis of how these movements support the healing journey.
At The Village of Healing and Wellness, we carry forward Dr. Penny’s legacy by utilizing these validated methods to help practitioners reclaim their strength and balance. By unifying Eastern energy theory with Western exercise science, we provide a path for self-restoration and "remembered health," empowering individuals to move through life with greater ease.

TESTIMONIALS
I would like to thank you for what you and QiGong have done and continue to do for my life and wellbeing. I am seventy years old and had radiation treatments for prostate cancer in December 2008. In January 2009 my outlook on life was not very promising. After my first QiGong lesson everything changed and since then there is a long list of improvements in my life. If I may say, I look about twenty years younger than in January 2009.
My life’s quality has improved tremendously. In January I never thought that I could feel this well again.
In spite of Zoladex injections (one of the side effects is bone loss) my bone density improved. I am sure that when I stop the injections, with the help of QiGong my bone mass will return to normal and healthy completely.
My ability to deal with stress has improved and I no longer suffer from anxiety, depression or insomnia. My memory, concentration and stamina have improved. The “good days” were very few and far between, now every day is a good day.
Mr. Picard, I can not thank you enough for the quality of life QiGong has given me.
Sincerely your student forever,
Elmer Suveges Sr.

Question:
"So given the current state of evidence, the relevant question emerges:
Just how much evidence will it take to convince us that a daily investment
of time performing qigong exercise should be an essential part of our healthy lifestyle?"...
Answer:
"Maybe just one time - doing the 24 Posture Qigong Routine."
